This famed documentary provides a bird’s view notion into the inner sanctum of Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign. D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus spent three weeks shot 33 hours of film, which was later combined with news footage to engage the cause-and-effect relationship between what happened inside “The War Room” and the election of the president. There is no squawk over narration to this documentary, objective clips spliced together. The dynamic gradual it all is the Fire and Ice duo of chief Clinton strategist James Carville and director of communications George Stephanopoulos. Of course, both titles are tainted simplifications of their roles in the campaign, and it is impossible not to peep “The War Room” as being one of the inspirations for “The West Glide.”
What stands out in watching this documentary is the complete sense that this is what it was really like, which, in the ruin, is more impressive than the fact that these guys won the election. Here you rep to watch the unpleasant Clinton “quickly response” strategy at work, where every attack by the opponent is crushed in an immediate barrage of rhetoric. For me the most memorable sequences were when the Clinton brain trust see the Bush-Quayle campaign is having its campaign signs printed in Brazil rather than in the U.S., Carville becomes emotional in the final staff meeting of the Clinton War Room, and when he and Stephanopoulos collect themselves unsure as to how they are supposed to address the man who is now the president-elect.
From the perspective of today it is spicy to compare the Carville and Stephanopoulos we notice unhurried closed doors with their more public personas as talking heads. The Jim and Mary (Matlin) traveling road demonstrate that keeps Carville in the political spotlight today might salvage more of the publicity, but the one who has impressed me the most is Stephanopoulos, whose work on the Sunday morning political roundtable “This Week” established his reputation as one of the most just and restrained political analysts on the tube of either party affiliation. That assessment was codified this past year when Stephanopoulos replaced Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts as the hosts of the note. “The War Room” shows not only where he paid his dues, but gives him his bone fides as well.

The final irony is that the one clip showing Al Gore giving a campaign speech is more dynamic than anything we saw during the 2000 election.

My only complaint is that this is exactly the type of movie that can buy advantage of the opportunities offered by DVD: Historical charts, timelines, bios, etc. These were opportunities that were missed in this version.

Right from the beginning I must lisp you that I am from Ireland and have studied the history of the Vikings for over 30 years - so naturally I have a runt bias on this subject. This programme is really an overview and introduction of the subject rather than any attempt at intrepreting the influence of the Vikings in the unusual world. The evidence stressed is on the material culture and doesn’t designate the vestiges of the influence of the Vikings in Europe in any detail - Although Iceland is well represented as being the last home of the Vikings. For instance the latest genetic studies showing expose decendants of the Vikings were not even considered - there are such studies. The people of the Orkney and Shetland Islands were notintroduced although they have their gain fresh Norse language - Norn. The exploration of the Rus is well done and the route of the Vikings to Bagdad was eye-opening. I especially liked the fresh attempt to ticket the scuttle by serious historians and archaeologists using boats constructed in the fashion of the age depicted. The Viking influence in France and their transition to Normans is cosidered but again not well developed. From this documentary one would hardly realise that the Vikings had quite an influence on the Mediterranean…Sardinia, Sicily and North Africa are not mentioned. Northwest Scotland was profoundly impacted by the Vikings but again we hear minute mention of this…Danelaw in England while mentioned is not accorded its colonial state. One gets the impression that Dublin was the only town in Ireland founded by the Vikings and that aside from the bare mention of discovery of the largest Viking ship found thus far having been built in Ireland of native timber…the largest and possibly the most principal Viking settlement in the world - Wood Quay in Dublin is not covered. The documentary does not screen very important fresh finds in Ireland of Woodstown caves and in Cumbria (Northwest England) of possibly Britain’s most significant Viking burial station…in addition to which another glean in the same county end to Cumwhitton village.
History, out of necessity, needs to be interpreted with the most original evidence available. I understand that a programme like Nova needs quite a lot of editing but seriously…hopefully Nova will revisit the subject of the Vikings again and this time address it from a more regional context. The reenactments are sparce and we perceive some scenes repeated…This programme could have frail more reenactments to bring the subject to life. This exhibit is composed worth the money! I thoroughly enjoyed the production!

Disney remade their classic consuming film of the same name 35 years after the fresh, as a live-action movie in 1996. The narrative is familiar to most: two Dalmatians, Pongo & Perdy, bring their owners together. Roger (Jeff Daniels) and Anita (Joely Richardson) plunge in esteem almost at first place when they meet in the park. They gather married and their Dalmatians have puppies. Sounds like a ravishing romantic memoir, accurate? It would be if it weren’t for Anita’s boss, the tainted Cruella de Vil (Glenn Finish) . Cruella is a fashionista who loves fur…and her latest desire is to possess a coat made of Dalmatian fur. When she learns that Anita’s dog has had a litter of 15, she sets her sites on them to invent her desire reach honest. Anita & Roger turn down her offer, so she sends her bumbling minions Jasper & Horace (Hugh Laurie & Ticket Williams respectively) to select them for her.

Does it equal the new? No, not really…but this is not a surprise. How could you top Marc Davis’ animation of Cruella, one of the most memorable characters in animation history? Unruffled, you have to give Glenn Discontinuance powerful credit for making Cruella her gain…consume her and you have itsy-bitsy reason to seek this film. With her alarm wig and amazingly over the top costumes, Conclude truly comes discontinuance…she is an nefarious delight to recognize as she barks orders (pun intended) and does everything in her power to construct the fur coat a reality. Laurie (now starring in the hit series “House”) and Williams are superior as her bumbling henchman. The animals are also lots of fun to peep, as they often display that they are considerable smarter than their human counterparts.
Note to parents: this movie is somewhat darker than the provocative versions, with a few creepy scenes with the taxidermist. Nothing major, but calm parents might want to be careful as Glenn Close’s characterization is more unpleasant and nightmare inducing than her involving namesake.

Sadly and surprisingly, there are no extras on this DVD other than a theatrical trailer. The widescreen (2:35:1) portray is first-rate (enhanced for 16×9 TVs), and there is a fantastic Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround mix.
Overall, an delightful film that is bumped up a few notches thanks to Glenn Close’s performance.
It was a stroke of genius for the legendary Disney Studio to resolve to remake their classic 1961 absorbing feature “101 Dalmatians”, as a live action feature. Never a sizable fan of remakes, I feel this sage is a natural for a live action version and on first viewing it totally won me over. It has so mighty to offer viewers of all ages, whether it be its 99 sparkling Dalmatian puppies that would melt the heart of any dog lover, a top class production with terrific sets, locations and stunts or a wonderfully putrid villianess in the incomparable Cruella De Vil played to perfection by gifted actress Glenn Conclude.

The film follows closely the modern epic and tells the story of London couple Roger and Anita who meet through a Dalmatian dog mixup in a London Park and descend in like, marry and pick up themselves the delighted “parents” of 15 lovely Dalmatian puppies when their Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita open a family of their beget. Their happiness is short lived however when Anita’s boss the dastardly Cruella De Vil spots the puppies and immediately makes plans to have the puppies kidnapped so that she can turn their pelts into the extravagant spotted fur coat she has always dreamed of having. What ensures is a silly sage fat of laughs, enormous stunts and hilarious situations of the “boo the villian, cheer the dogs” variety. The Dalmatian parents, with the benefit of many assorted members of the animal kingdom from woodpeckers, squirrels, and assorted sheep pigs, and dogs not only succeed in tracking down the missing puppies in their hideout but also outwit Cruella and her incompetent accomplices at every turn. The animals revenge on Cruella and her accomplices makes for most of the humour as they fetch themselves being dumped through falling roofs, landing in tubs of gooey molasses and being smelled out by skunks!
No expense was spared on this production and indeed all the live action characters bare an astounding resemblance to their cartoon counterparts. Gleen Cessation towers over the whole production in her performance as Disney Studios most noted villianess the totally over the top Cruella De Vil. Her makeup, hair styles and clothing is everything you would imagine Cruella to be. It is to the credit of Glenn End that she succeeds totally in bringing to life such a well known and “loved” cartoon villianess. A supremely talented actress as seen in such diverse roles as those in “Fatal Attraction”, “Hazardous Liaisons”, “Meeting Venus”, and “Paradise Road” among others, she is a total riot as the bizzare fashion designer with an improper fur fetish. It is she who makes “101 Dalmatians” such memorable viewing and her encounters with the animals in the second half of the film will have you laughing for ages. The spy of Cruella rising out of the tub of molasses where she has been unceremoniously dumped by the animal brigade will bring fits of laughter to the viewer. The film also boasts the enormous talents of Jeff Daniels and the heavenly Joely Richardson as Roger and Anita the loving couple drawn to each other by their fondness for Dalmatians, and the gifted Joan Plowright as Anita’s stale Nanny who finds herself performing the role again but this time for the 15 puppies in the house. Worthy of the comedy stems from the enormous playing by Hugh Laurie and Price Williams as the wacky Jasper and Horace employed by Cruella who’s job it is to rob the puppies for Cruella. They receive the main brunt of the animals “revenge” to immense laughable execute as does John Shrapnel in the role of the spoiled scarred Skinner who is employed to turn the puppies coats into Cruella’s novel coat. The animal stunts performed in this film will have you gasping as the animals seem top buy on human personalities of their contain to vivid do. The space photography around London and in the snow scenes at Cruella’s hideaway also invent a very glorious glance to the film.
I never fail to search for “101 Dalmatians” without finding a smile appearing on my face. It is a totally appetizing film that is fair as powerful for adults as it is children which is a sincere credit to the Disney Studios. Glenn Stop really makes the film a viewing experience with her over the top playing here but if you are in anyway a dog lover you can’t assist but be totally captivated by these appetizing 101 spotted creatures charming the audience in “101 Dalmatians”. Be Pleased!

Yu Yu Hakusho is the best anime ever. With that said and done, the latest volume concludes the Urameshi Team’s semifinal match. Uraurashima has caused Kurama to become Yoko Kurama, and the demon demands to know where his now freaking out opponent received the mysterious item that has helped him net his power. Kuwabara is dwelling to fight the final matches against the team, but thanks to his goofing up, the severely weakened Genkai has to pick out bot Shi Shi Wakamaru and the mysterious Onji, who’s hiding something. Plus, will Yusuke be able to control the power given to him by Genkai, or will the stress raze him? Well, he’s the main character, so I doubt he’ll die. On the episodes, the action is of course awesome, especially the piece where Shishiwakamaru releases these souls at Genkai, and they attack the audience! Plus, the emotional scenes are done extremely well. I was reach tears during the scene with Yusuke and Puu, which I won’t spoil. All in all, another righteous DVD on Yu Yu Hakusho. I can’t wait to leer the next episodes!
I have seen these episodes on TV and I wish when someone does a review that they would issue people if it is uncut or edited, or what would be even better if the people that were selling the movie would direct exhaust if it was uncut or edited some of the movies say they are but not all of them.

For the [adult swim] fan, this may seem like an ideal gift. It certainly would be, provided they don’t already fill one or more of the seasons explain in this box station. This is a gigantic compilation of various Adult Swim shows. Also, while I’m shadowy of the exclusion of Home Movies (Adult Swim DID premier with the episode ‘Directors Cut’), I’m guessing it’s not in there because all of the shows seem to be in house shows from William’s Street, while Home Movies was Soup2Nuts. But, Metalocalypse is there for people who need their Brendon Little fix, so it’s all superb.
Also, the pilot DVD makes the deal even more broad, Welcome to Eltingville is improbable.

This film may also be found on Platinum Disc’s Gargantuan American Western series. This one is included on the single disc of Volume 13 in the series, along with a tall documnetary on “Gunfighters”, “My Outlaw Brother”(1951), with Mickey Rooney and Robert Stack, and “The Gun and The Pulpit”, from 1974 starring Marjoe Gortner and a colossal cast. Volume 13 may also be purchased as fraction of Volume 2 of the larger sets(10 discs/40 films) . The DVDs in this series are not pristeen. There are scratches and graineyness, especially in the older films, and the color films are usually blooming dated. All are enhanced with DD5.1 sound, and if you are a western lover, you really can’t go immoral for the brand.

The people who slammed this kids’ film were, guess what? bitter adult Star Wars fans who have refused to watch the saga has moved onto the next generation. This is not a continuation of the live-action films, it is a computer titillating interpretation of Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars titillating series, hence the clean stylized faces and character designs. It’s a mountainous plot to gather young children, like my nephew who has never seen a Star Wars movie enthusiastic in the thought. Face it people, this is a kids’ explain and always will be. If you want the darker, more realistic side of the saga, wait for the live-action TV series to approach. Relax, and appreciate the lighter side of Star Wars once in a while.
So, I saw this originally in the theater. I mean, it’s Star Wars, you have to experience Star Wars in the theater. I can now say I’ve seen every movie in said contrivance (going support to ‘77) . I went into it with no preconceived notions about it, only that it was a unusual Star Wars movie. I never saw a trailer or anything for this. It was something I started when the prequel came out. I wanted to know nothing about the movies before seeing them.

So, ok, this was unprejudiced an excuse to earn a movie. The set is cellophane thin. I am actually all good with that. The action scenes Cry Star Wars, Anakin and the other main characters are fleshed out a runt more, and it is all in all expedient fun. It is geared for a younger audience, but so were all the others.
Ahsoka is gargantuan. Even at her tender age, she is able to retain up with the likes of the Chosen One. Yes, there are distinct characters that don’t necessarily fit in with what most of us look as the Star Wars universe (Rotta, Ziro) but it was considerable for what legend line there is.
All in all, I enjoyed watching this and YES I do believe this on DVD. I haven’t been able to come by the series yet on Cartoon Network, but based on the movie (ancient storyline and all), it has potential to expand, in a gracious draw, the Star Wars Universe.

E3 in S10 2.2 Liter
This is a 2000 Chevy S10 2.2 liter auto trans running on E85 that the E3 spark plugs went into. With the old spark plugs, driving 55 mph commuting daily to work 35 miles round trip the S10 was getting 19.7 mpg. With the E3 spark plugs the S10 is getting 21.8 mpg. It feels like there is slightly more power available. For so little money invested in these spark plugs I can’t think of anything else you can do to get such big returns in gas savings

I put these plugs in a 2003 Malibu LS and it runs great. Prior it had hesitation and gas mileage was ok, but the E3’s have smoothed out the acceleration and I’m not stepping on the pedal to get up to speed. This adds up to improved gas mileage.
I’ve since purchased another set for my Blazer and waiting for them to arrive so I can put them in.
Improved mileage
I replaced the original plugs in a car with 100,000 miles. The car does seem to have a bit more power and has better pickup at low rpm with a manual transmission. It clearly gets better mileage than it ever has, estimated at about 5% to 10% improvement which is very worthwhile. They also cost about the same as the OEM replacement, so there is no real downside to these plugs. The package says they will last 100,000 miles, but that is unknown for a while. My 4 cyl. engine was very easy to install, however many 6 cyl. and 8 cyl. engines are very difficult and time consuming to install. If you can do it yourself this is very worthwile, however it may not make sense to have a mechanic replace the plugs unless they are due anyway. These plugs work as advertised and it seems odd that new cars do not come with plugs like these.

Cute, and Works for us…
I ordered this plate because my youngest son, at 21 months, loves to throw his food, plate, bowl, utensils, etc. He is a great eater, but as soon as he’s done, things start flying. I took a chance ordering this plate online, but I’m definitely happy with it. It’s quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but it’s the perfect size for a toddler. I wish the mat had suction cups, but it’s a firm plastic with non-skid silicone strips on the bottom. It doesn’t move very easily, and because of the shape of the edges, my son can’t easily get his fingers under it. He also loves that the fork and spoon fit onto the mat, and enjoys putting them on and off the posts, as well as putting his fingers through the holes in the utensils, rather than throwing them. And, when the plate in snapped into the mat, he can’t remove it. So far, he has been able to push it away from him, with quite a bit of effort (as opposed to a normal plate), but hasn’t tried to pick it up. I think the smiley face design is cute enough to leave on the table between meals, and my 3-year-old is already asking us to buy one for him (although I think he’s a little old for it). Overall, I like it and would buy it again.
Best available plate out on the market
My 12 month daughter makes a mess out of meal time. We have always fed her off the table top but I wanted to start feeding her off of a plate. I purchased the Boon no slip plate but all she did was pick the plate off the table and hand it back to me. It is so light that it was relatively easy to pick it up. So the Skip Hop plate was my next attempt at feeding off of something other than a table.
I have found that nothing short of nailing it to a table will prevent any child from picking it up. With a good amount of effort, she was able to pick this base w/plate up, but it is bulkier and heavier than any plate out there. There are also tacky grips on the bottom so it prevents her from pushing the base across the table. She cannot push the base plate for sure, but she can pick it up if she set her mind to it. I try to distract her by giving her the fork and spoon. Now she tries to spear food with her fork and no longer tries to lift the entire plate. I suppose spearing is more of a challenge than lifting. I have to say that the fork and spoon are a good size for her hands and a good shape for picking up food.
Lastly, she has been able to separate off the white plate from the base by grabbing the dividers and spill food. But I have found that spreading a little olive oil on the dividers have positively foiled any attempts at picking off the white plate. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it makes for a cleaner meal.
I wish that they sold extra utensils and white plates so I don’t have to wash it after every meal. I definitely don’t want to pay for a new set and base!
Handy and easy
Before purchasing this, our one-year old son mashed and smashed his food all over the place. This has helped him learn to just put the food straight into his mouth. The non-skid rubber really helps and it is dishwasher safe, always a plus. I highly recommend this item.
